Golden Bias Club

Support to Team USA

Learn about a quilt raffle that will be held at the
2013 US Open to support Team USA

Purpose

The purpose of the GB Club, as detailed in the Policy & Procedures Manual, is to provide financial support to Team USA members to help with their expenses in international competition. The initial objective was to provide 50% of receipts to the Team and 50% for expense and build a GBC fund. The Council later approved a GBC Board proposal to provide up to 75% of proceeds to Team Support.

Background

Golden Bias Pin and Year BarsThe Golden Bias Club was initiated by the Council at its 2002 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and fund-raising began in 2003. The Council asked Annette Schans to Chair the GBC Board during its fall 2005 meeting..

Organization

TThe Board of Trustees (Committee) is to have at least 2 Councilors and a Member-at-Large. The 2013 GBC Committee members are: Dee McSparran & Kottia Spangler (Co-Chair), Heather Stewart, Bobbi Elwell, Sandy Souza and Crandall Hays. Quarterly Reports are submitted to the Bowls USA Treasurer (Brian Studwell) and an Annual Report (usually 3rd quarter ytd) is given to the Council at its AGM.

Membership

Membership continues to be a contribution of $50/year which can be sent to:

Dee McSparran
4200 Park Newport 215
Newport Beach, CA 92660

Recognition of a member's contribution is initially noted by a Golden Bias Club Pin and a set of bowls stickers. Subsequent years are noted by bowls stickers and a year bar which attaches to the pin.

We strongly believe that a modest social event to recognize contributors and give them a chance to meet each other and Team members is very important, and a member-only GBC party is traditionally provided at the National Championships and U.S. Open events.

Golden Bias financial support is more important than ever since Bowls USA stopped providing financial support to Team USA members in 2006/2007.
