Saturday, June 22nd -- 8:00 p.m.
Not much to report from today.
Started with breakfast at BamBam’s -- very eclectic place. Highly recommended if you find yourself over here and you’re looking for eggs benedict or French toast with honey butter, amazing bacon and eggs -- um-um good..
Next, back to Club Mermaid, our adopted lawn bowls club. We presented a shirt to the club president that all of us (men and women) signed on the stripes on the left sleeve. The clubhouse was full of bowlers and the president came out of his office to thank us in front of the other bowlers. Very sweet.
After a quick bite for lunch, Jackie, Alex, and myself went to Broadbeach to watch the final round of the men’s 3-bowl pairs and women’s singles matches.
I won’t bore you with all the details of the men’s finals match except to say this: Wow! What a finish! New Zealand down 14 - 5 to Australia after 10 ends -- and then all tied up 18 - 18 going into the 18th and final end. The last four bowls by the skips -- amazing bowling. Just amazing.
As “the boys” had invited us over for dinner at their place, we girls all met back at our place to get ready. We brought dessert; they did everything else. Very nice evening. We’re not sure what got Alice’s funny bone, but she was laughing so hard there were tears coming out of her eyes. I didn’t eat any of the Brussels sprouts, not then, not now, not ever.
The boys got all dressed up in their matching shirts. So cute.
By 8 o’clock, we were back to our place after a very relaxing and enjoyable day.
