Meet the Team

Executive Team

Executive Responsibilities

Pam Edwards

President

Pam Edwards started lawn bowling in 1992 and has been a member of the Portland Lawn Bowling Club ever since.  In 1998 she began competing in tournaments with her long-time pairs partner Debbie Tupper, they’ve been able to represent the NW Division at the national championships several times.

At the Portland club Pam served as secretary, helped start indoor short mat bowling, and co-coordinates lawn bowls classes through Portland Park and Recreation.  She loves bowling in Portland and is proud of the improvements at the club and green.

When Pam retired from physical therapy, she gained the ability to travel for tournament bowling throughout the US and was thrilled to get to bowl with a US team in Wales in 2017. She has also taken the opportunity to become a certified club coach and BUSA umpire.

Kane Tobin

First Vice President

Kane Tobin got his start in the sport of Bowls in 2017 by resurrecting the previously defunct Tacoma Lawn Bowling Club. While most bowlers join an existing club, that wasn’t an option for Kane when he moved across the country to Tacoma. After recognizing the potential of the unused community bowling green, Kane leveraged his background in community development and social entrepreneurship to restart the Club.

While Kane doesn’t have a lengthy competitive resume, his deep experience in business development, change management and stakeholder engagement has prepared him for his new role in BowlsUSA. In just a few short years, his leadership at the Club and Division levels restarted the Tacoma Lawn Bowling Club and has helped bring the Spokane Lawn Bowling Club back to BowlsUSA. In addition to his new role as 2nd VP, Kane is also the new Chair of Sporting Development, a position designed to leverage Kane’s entrepreneurial skills in directing growth for the sport of Bowls nationwide.

Linda Roberts

Second Vice President

Linda fell in love with bowls in 2009 when she and her husband, Scott, joined Laguna Beach LBC.    She has experienced some successes (2014 BOT of US Open; a member of Team USA in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2023), and has been lucky enough to travel with her husband and Team USA to explore places and meet bowlers overseas.  However, Linda believes the greatest success is the friendships she has acquired through bowls.
Linda has served on the SWD board (currently VP), president of the SWWD, and the Laguna Beach LBC board for 8 years (currently VP). She is also an umpire and a coach.
Linda works full time, and lives with her husband in Mission Viejo, CA.  She has 3 grandchildren, whom she babysits often.

Manya Urane

Secretary

Manya grew up in California, moved to Texas in 2014, then back to CA in 2021 to care for aging family.  It was when she and her husband Mike moved to Long Beach, CA that they took free lawn bowling lessons and began the adventure.
In 2023 with great apprehension, Manya played in her first tournament – Novice Singles – and took 2nd place.  With growing confidence and an enthusiastic and experienced practice partner, Tricia Quan, she caught the competition bug and has since been thoroughly enjoying tournament play, competing in US Opens, South Central Opens, Southwest Opens, and proudly - National Championship Pairs with Melanie Vizenor.  She slips quick visits to her grand-son in Houston as often as possible.
Manya has a background in Office Management with which she hopes to be of help and support to Bowls USA.

Kelly Warren

Treasurer

Kelly Warren was introduced to the Sport of Bowls in 2008 as a member of the Pomona Lawn Bowling Club in the Southwest Division.  As one of those new bowlers that falls in love with the game, he immediately became very active in the SWLBA Tournaments and was a regular visitor to other Clubs and Divisions both in league play and weekend events.

Kelly is an active attorney with a general solo practice for decades and has actively volunteered his personal time for community service organizations.  He has served as a President and Treasurer for the California Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Eastern Bar Association of Los Angeles County.

He served for five years as the Treasurer of the Southwest Lawn Bowling Association and is excited to assist with the development of Bowls USA while continuing to compete at all levels in Sport of Bowls.

Veronica Sum

Immediate Past President

Veronica Sum became interested in bowling because of her mom, Frances, who had started bowling in Sun City, AZ, the mecca city of all lawn bowling. She eventually found an artificial green in Bloomfield, NJ, where she introduced Veronica to the sport.

In 2015, Veronica quickly got immersed in the sport by playing more competitively and getting involved to help promote the sport. She has been active at her club level as Secretary of Essex County Lawn Bowling Club and she currently serves as President of the Northeast Division.

In her short time in the sport, Veronica has attended 3 National Championships in Ladies Pairs with her mom and has attended other Opens, both the South Central & US. Professionally, Veronica has a background in hospitality (hotel management) with a focus on marketing and technology.
