Executive Team
Veronica SumVeronica Sum became interested in bowling because of her mom, Frances, who had started bowling in Sun City, AZ, the mecca city of all lawn bowling. She eventually found an artificial green in Bloomfield, NJ, where she introduced Veronica to the sport.
In 2015, Veronica quickly got immersed in the sport by playing more competitively and getting involved to help promote the sport. She has been active at her club level as Secretary of Essex County Lawn Bowling Club and she currently serves as President of the Northeast Division. In her short time in the sport, Veronica has attended 3 National Championships in Ladies Pairs with her mom and has attended other Opens, both the South Central & US. Professionally, Veronica has a background in hospitality (hotel management) with a focus on marketing and technology. |
Arthur Stewart
Arthur Stewart is originally from California but began bowling during his time living in South Africa. He was fortunate to have several experienced bowlers take him under their wings and he quickly took to the sport.
He was soon playing in divisional and provincial competitions, as well as working with his club and regional organizations to increase exposure and participation in bowling. He moved back to the USA in August 2019 and has jumped right in - playing in PIMD competitions, the US Open, and is the current PIMD President. He is particularly interested in player development and creative strategies for bringing more and diverse people into the game. He is married with three children, but hasn’t managed to get any of them passionate about bowling...yet. |
Kane Tobin
Kane Tobin got his start in the sport of Bowls in 2017 by resurrecting the previously defunct Tacoma Lawn Bowling Club. While most bowlers join an existing club, that wasn’t an option for Kane when he moved across the country to Tacoma. After recognizing the potential of the unused community bowling green, Kane leveraged his background in community development and social entrepreneurship to restart the Club.
While Kane doesn’t have a lengthy competitive resume, his deep experience in business development, change management and stakeholder engagement has prepared him for his new role in BowlsUSA. In just a few short years, his leadership at the Club and Division levels restarted the Tacoma Lawn Bowling Club and has helped bring the Spokane Lawn Bowling Club back to BowlsUSA. In addition to his new role as 2nd VP, Kane is also the new Chair of Sporting Development, a position designed to leverage Kane’s entrepreneurial skills in directing growth for the sport of Bowls nationwide. |
Pam Edwards
Pam Edwards started lawn bowling in 1992 and has been a member of the Portland Lawn Bowling Club ever since. In 1998 she began competing in tournaments with her long-time pairs partner Debbie Tupper, they’ve been able to represent the NW Division at the national championships several times.
At the Portland club Pam served as secretary, helped start indoor short mat bowling, and co-coordinates lawn bowls classes through Portland Park and Recreation. She loves bowling in Portland and is proud of the improvements at the club and green. When Pam retired from physical therapy, she gained the ability to travel for tournament bowling throughout the US and was thrilled to get to bowl with a US team in Wales in 2017. She has also taken the opportunity to become a certified club coach and BUSA umpire. Pam joined the national council about 10 years ago and from there became the database manager for BUSA’s eblast system at its inception in 2013. She often serves on organizational committees, hoping to improve the accessibility and efficiency of BUSA. |
Kelly Warren
Kelly Warren was introduced to the Sport of Bowls in 2008 as a member of the Pomona Lawn Bowling Club in the Southwest Division. Kelly is an active attorney with a general solo practice for decades and has actively volunteered his personal time for community service organizations. He has served as a President and Treasurer for the California Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Eastern Bar Association of Los Angeles County.
